Random Thoughts – 1 Year

One year ago (8-14-15), I started typing the very first words of Rude Boy USA. I never thought that twelve months later, I would be preparing for book 3’s launch. Back then, I was unsure about a lot of things and thought what the hell, I’ve been thinking about writing this for some time, why not start now?

As I sit here typing, I wonder what the next twelve months will bring. The hope is that good things are ahead for my immediate family and me but writing wise, I want to have another story done by this time next year. It won’t be the extent of Rude Boy USA because that took on a life of its own but hopefully it is something that will have people thinking. I want to show people that I have the range, and I think the next book will prove that.

The point of this post is that I want to tell people who want to write a book, or short story is to just start typing. Your work doesn’t have to be perfect right off the bat. No one expects that. Start with notes about ideas that you come up with. Keep a notebook by your bed, just in case you dream a great idea and need to write it down quickly before you forget. Keep a small notepad in your pocket at work. Make sure that you have a timeline done of events that take place in your masterpiece? Once you have those things in order, all you have to do is fill in the elements that make the moments in your timeline happen.

Start somewhere. You never know how things will be a year from now.
